Alonso, fifth and more than confident

Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), leading the World Championship Formula 1, will certainly not be able to be helped by Felipe Massa (Ferrari), even if the Brazilian confided that he was ready to do so. Indeed, only ninth in qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix this Saturday, the 2008 vice-World Champion is far from the contenders for the world title and his teammate, fifth.

Fernando Alonso, in this position, therefore does not want to think about the title. Outstripped by the pilots Red Bull, he wants above all to lose as few points as possible. “ Of course, starting from pole position is always better. But, fifth, this is the best we could do today, the Spaniard told us. I'm not thinking about the championship at the moment. We will focus on trying to grab points and, if we can't, losing as few as possible. »

The double World Champion is happy to be satisfied with this fifth place but, saying it half-heartedly, hopes to take the lead from the first corners of the race. Although he is ahead of some of his rivals, the former driver Renault hopes to see them neutralized. “ It will be interesting to see what happens at the start. There are three of the favorites ahead of us and they are forced to take risks so I hope to see some action on the front line. »
