Alonso remains hopeful for a third title

After five seasons spent with the Team Ferrari, Fernando Alonso decided to take up the challenge McLaren-Honda at the start of the 2015 season, as headliner of the Japanese engine manufacturer's return to Formula 1.

Despite the results below the expectations of the former pilot Renault for a season and a half, the Spaniard has not yet lost all hope of winning this third title that he hopes for so much, hence, in particular, his decision to leave Maranello. « With this in mind, we must be with Mercedes or McLaren, comments Alonso, cited by ESPN. This is my opinion and the feeling that prevailed when leaving Ferrari.

In 2014, I made the decision and I still had two years left on my contract, but I felt I was right to leave. No matter what results they were going to have in 2015 and 2016 or in the future, this period with Ferrari was fantastic and I wanted to end with that feeling. Every year it was a little more stress because you don't win and it seems like it's your fault. »

The Woking resident, who returned to a team that he left with a bang at the end of 2007 after a season marked by his rivalry with Lewis Hamilton, admits on the other hand that the difficulties encountered by Ferrari affect him. « I don't wish any problems for the Scuderia, because it's a team that I will always have in my heart » recalls the Iberian pilot.
