Alonso: F1 offers unique sensations

In a post on the official website of McLaren, the double Spanish world champion thus describes his passion for the discipline, often defined as the premier category of motorsport.

“I am a competitive person and competition is important in F1, but I don't race in F1 for that, precise Alonso. I can get it in other areas of my life, like cycling and tennis, or running against my mother in the supermarket. The reason why I race in F1 is that cars give me sensations that I can't get anywhere else. It's unique.

It's hard to explain this feeling, because nothing else comes close to F1. Your brain has to reset every time you get in the car because things happen so quickly. If you have not flown a car for a few weeks, the level of performance takes you by surprise. »

The old pilot Renault et Ferrari also admits that, according to him, a driver must be ruthless in order to establish himself in the discipline. “You must have no heart. You are not enemies with other drivers, but you have to focus on yourself to win. If you can “hurt” someone by gaining an advantage over them” proclaims the Iberian pilot.

We thus remember the internal struggle between the Spaniard and Lewis Hamilton at McLaren in 2007, the two teammates failing in the quest for the Drivers' world title against Kimi Räikkönen during the last race in Brazil at Interlagos.
