Alonso: “F1 is right to copy ideas that work”

Si Fernando Alonso will leave the paddock of the F1 at the end of the season, the double world champion continues to closely follow the avenues envisaged for the future of the discipline.

The prototypes revealed for the future regulation planned for 2021 were well received by the pilot McLaren who sees it as a real change for the championship.

“This is what we should do if they did a study and verified that it was the best for the future, commented the Asturian, quoted by Sky Sports. The cars have a different look in terms of aero. It looks more like a Formula Renault or to a IndyCar and they should be able to follow each other by being a little closer. F1 is right to copy ideas that work. »

Fernando Alonso has often criticized F1's aerodynamic disruptions which prevent drivers from getting closer to attempt an overtake. The latter often have to rely on DRS to make the difference.

“It’s always been a bit in the nature of F1, it’s always been complicated to follow the cars, added the winner of the last edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It seems to me that the critical point was around 2004-2005. It was a little easier between 2010 and 2016 until we introduced the wings and wide tires. »
