Alonso: Honda project “insufficiently prepared”

Fernando Alonso continues his way of the cross at McLaren in difficulty since last year and its passage from the Power Unit Mercedes at Honda. The Woking single-seaters continue to lack the performance to claim the front positions and threaten the Mercedes who have been untouchable for two seasons.

The double world champion believes that Honda should have taken more time before entering competition.

“I believe that everything that our engine manufacturer is missing comes down to two or three years of upstream work, which we now have to make up for, admitted Fernando Alonso in issue 2077 of AUTOweekly. His project is too young, he arrived on the track too early, insufficiently prepared. We have the results today that we should have had last year… or worse. »

Our program has not yet completed its second year of life, it cannot be perfect”, added Fernando Alonso.

The McLaren driver also regretted the current situation of the F1 and seems impatient for the implementation of the new regulations in 2017.

“The direction the (discipline) is taking is not very clear and some aspects are becoming disturbing, he said. You can't attack as you want, otherwise you'll damage the tires or consume too much fuel. Two parameters which are in total opposition to the pilot’s instinct…”
