Alonso, podium goal

Fernando, you had a positive weekend at Monza. Tell us about your race…

Taking into account that I was eighth on the starting grid, I was happy to finish fifth. This result was better than we predicted before the race. We used the SREC system all weekend, but I couldn't optimize it at the start and we lost a bit of our advantage going into the first corner. The balance of the car was good for the rest of the race and my one-stop strategy worked well, so we were able to score some important points.

The next race takes place in Singapore. What do you think of this circuit?

It's a route that I like because it presents quite interesting challenges. Certain sections, like the chicane at turn number 10 where you have to be very fast and use the kerbs, are interesting. Overtaking is not easy in Singapore but the circuit presents certain opportunities.

How will the R29 perform?

The R29 performs well on the majority of circuits, so I think we can be quite competitive and aim for the podium. This has to be my goal this weekend.

How do you prepare for unusual driving times?

Last year, I decided to stay on European time instead of switching to local time. So I'm going to do the same thing this year, it's the best solution for my physical preparation.
