Yuki tsunoda occupies 15th place in the Drivers' Championship Formula 1 after nine races contested with 11 points on the clock, only five points behind his teammate at Alpha Tauri, Pierre Gasly. This is two more compared to last year and above all he no longer suffers as much from the comparison with the Frenchman, who had 40 points in the same period a year ago.

“Yuki has taken a big step forward from last year, explains Guillaume Dezoteux, head of performance at the Italian team when taking stock of the debut of Yuki Tsunoda. He has more experience, he knows the circuits, he knows his engineers and his mechanics, so the relationship is constantly improving. He has improved a lot compared to last year, and now he is able to be more consistent, his feedback has improved a lot, his engineers understand what he needs to go fast. And he got closer to Pierre, which is very positive because he also pushes Pierre, so I'm really happy with the situation now. »

Bouncing back after abandoning Canada

An improvement which is made despite a non-optimal start to the season for the sister team of Red Bull. “It’s a difficult start to the season for us, Judge Dezoteux. The pace of the car is certainly worth more than the points we have so far. The first three races of the season (Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Australia. Editor’s note), we had a lot of bad luck; almost every time the safety car comes out right after our pit stop, so there's not much you can do about it. Since Monaco the car has shown good performance in the low speed twisty corners and we have quite good mechanical grip. We found a way to make the car comfortable. »

However, everything is not perfect in Yuki Tsunoda's start to the season, and the driver distinguished himself at the Canadian Grand Prix by going off the track at the exit of the pit lane, causing his retirement. He will be keen to make up for it at Silverstone this Sunday.
