AlphaTauri presents its new AT02

Alpha Tauri this Friday morning became the 2nd team on the plateau to present its car 2021. Chassis name: AT02. Faenza's latest creation, which sports a slightly modified livery, will continue to feature a Honda powertrain, partner of the sister team. Red Bull since 2018. The launch took the form of a fashion show in the clothing brand's workshop in Salzburg, Austria.

Like all the other teams, AlphaTauri had to adapt its car to the few changes provided for by the 2021 technical regulations. These modifications are at the level of the flat bottom, the rear brake scoops, and the diffuser. Jody Egginton, technical director of Faenza, explains that the Italian team spent its 2 development tokens to design a new nose and redesign the outer area of ​​the front suspension. 

AlphaTauri is coming off a successful 2020 season even if the small squadra had to settle for 7th place in the Manufacturers' ranking due to fierce competition in the middle of the grid. Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat regularly featured in Q3 and in the points, while the Frenchman achieved historic success at the Italian Grand Prix, the first for a French driver in 1 years. 

In 2021, the Norman will team up with a new teammate in the person of the Japanese Yuki tsunoda, promoted after a great campaign of Formula 2, finished in 3rd place in the general classification. The 20-year-old is the first representative of his country in F1 for Kamui Kobayashi, who left the discipline at the end of 2014.
