The ambitions of Renault, when the Losange announced its return as a team in Formula 1 at the start of 2016, set the quest for podiums in 2018, victories in 2019 and a world title in 2020.

The plan was delayed, and it's not the replacement by the brand Alpine as well as the unexpected victory ofEsteban Ocon in Hungary this summer 2021 which will completely satisfy Laurent fans Red. The boss of the firm with the A arrow has established a new roadmap on the official F1 website.

“We have a long-term project, the objective is to reach a level of competitiveness which places us on the podium as often as possible in 2024,” explains the Frenchman. From the fifth place we are today, it is easy to put together a plan that predicts that we will be a little better each year. It’s a project over 100 races, four years, four seasons. »

“At each Grand Prix we must make progress. This could be progress on the track or progress that we don't see, small details. The idea is to never stop and move in the right direction. »

The only problem is that opposing teams are certainly not going to rest on their advantage between now and the introduction of the new technical regulations in 2022. “Next year, it risks coming down to a coin toss. All we want is to have a certain level of performance to fall back on, not too far from the best, and from there climb to the top. »

Before the United States Grand Prix scheduled for Austin (Texas), Alpine is sailing in fifth place in the Manufacturers' ranking, around a hundred points behind Ferrari and only 12 units ahead Alpha Tauri.
