She is not sure of anything, but she acts “as if” so as not to be caught off guard and thus be on time in case she obtains her ticket to the world championship of Formula 1.

If it wants to be on the grid in 2026, the Andretti/Cadillac combination must act now. She knows this only too well, and begins to form a technical and engineering team which will initially work within the British branch of Andretti Autosport for the Formula E, located in Banbury.

Nick Chester was responsible for forming this team. After a quick stint of less than two months as technical director of the team McLaren of Formula E, the 54-year-old Briton took up residence in Oxfordshire, his address book in his hands. A figure in the F1 paddock since he cut his teeth at Arrows in 1995, it is enstone that the man made himself known, first at Benetton then at Renault at the head of the Vehicle Performance department, contributing to the “Constructors” titles of the French brand in 2005 and 2006… and to the “Drivers” titles of Fernando Alonso.

Andretti/Cadillac on the floor even before the officialization

Appointed director of engineering at Lotus in 2012, he became responsible for the design and development of Enstone's single-seaters when James Allison took over as technical director of the team in May 2013. He held this position for 7 years before to be replaced by Pat Fry in July 2020.

He then joined the stable Mercedes-Benz EQ in Formula E, world champion for the last two seasons, which has since become McLaren Formula E. Suffice to say that the man enjoys great knowledge, experience, respectability in the small world of F1 built over 25 seasons and which will prove crucial for Andretti as recruitment time comes…

Not to mention that Nick Chester knows the Renault house well, expected to power the American team! No doubt it will be difficult for him to attract the best people to Banbury as long as no formalization of the arrival of the Andretti/Cadillac duo in Formula 1 has taken place, but contacts will have been made and the man will know already who is ready to follow. That will save you so much time.

Obviously, the Andretti clan is racing hard and is giving itself the means to enter the Great Circus of F1!
