The start of the seasonAston Martin is far from ideal. The British team has already had to face many adventures upon arriving in Bahrain for pre-season testing. This Thursday, for the first day of driving, Mike Krack's team experienced a first breakdown on the first lap, due to an electronic problem. In the afternoon, a damaged floor during a pit stop practice deprived Fernando Alonso of precious track time for a good hour. Several mishaps which are added to the absence of Lance stroll, forfeited for these winter tests due to a wrist injury.

On the Sakhir circuit, it is Felipe Drugovich, Aston Martin's reserve driver, who occupies the Canadian's seat in tandem with Fernando Alonso. Mike Krack, the director of the English team, assured that Lance Stroll's rest was initially "as a precaution" without giving more details on his injury. “He was training to work on his fitness last week, so he was cycling. He had a little incident, got injured, and for precautionary reasons we decided it was better to wait a bit and have him ready next week. »

Imminent decision on Stroll's replacement?

With less than 10 days to go before the first Free Practice 1, still in Bahrain, uncertainty still reigns regarding the presence of Lance Stroll at the Bahrain Grand Prix. In this case, Aston Martin will then have to choose between its two reserve drivers, Stoffel Vandoorne and Felipe Drugovich, to participate in the first meeting of the season. The last city was on track Thursday morning, as the Belgian is busy in South Africa for the Cape Town E-Prix, in Formula E

Asked about the possible choice of Aston Martin regarding the situation, and about the possibility of seeing Felipe Drugovich at the wheel of the AMR23 on Friday and Saturday, Mike Krack once again remained evasive. “[Drugovich] did the morning session today, so that's also something you have to do as a team just to cover all eventualities. We have not yet made the final decision on how we will proceed for the next few days. We will decide in the next few hours”
