Esteban Ocon's turn to get a new engine in Mexico

It's raining engine penalties in Mexico. After Yuki tsunoda (Alpha Tauri), Lance stroll (Aston Martin), And Lando Norris (McLaren), it’s the turn ofEsteban Ocon (Alpine) to receive a sanction for changing propeller beyond its annual allocation.

The Frenchman receives a new Power Unit Renault complete (heat engine, turbocharger, MGU-K, MGU-H, battery, electronic control) and is therefore condemned from the back of the grid.

Ocon becomes the 16th driver penalized on the grid in 2021. Only drivers Haas et Alfa Romeo, all 4 powered by Ferrari, have so far escaped punishment.

Ocon is also the 5th rider penalized this weekend in Mexico since George Russell will also have to move back 5 places for illegal gearbox changes. That still makes 1/4 of the grid penalized even before qualifying. A bit ridiculous, no?
