On June 19, just after the arrival of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the start of the European Grand Prix will be given in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan. The players in this great novelty of the 2016 season will face a 6,006 km long circuit, which will wind through the streets of the city.
Visiting as the new ambassador of the event, the Spaniard Fernando Alonso was able to get a first idea of the configuration of the track. “I'm really impressed with everything I saw today, explained the pilot McLaren at a press conference I'm sure it's going to be the most memorable circuit on the calendar this year. It successfully mixes modernity and a nod to the past.
The way the track runs along the walls of the old city with the magnificent Flame Towers in the background is a perfect example of this. On a technical level, I'm looking forward to driving on such a difficult circuit, especially along these tight corners. »
