Lots of new things at McLaren at Hockenheim

Martin Whitmarsh, team principal of the British team, revealed during a videoconference that, for the tenth round of the world championship of F1, the gray single-seaters will be equipped with pontoons that are very different from what we have seen since the start of the season. McLaren Mercedes intends to unlock the secret of using Pirelli tires, which are giving Woking engineers a hard time.

« The pontoons will be very different and it will be visible, explains Whitmarsh. There are other differences which will be visible to the naked eye while some parts which will not be visible and this is the main area of modifications. F1 changes quickly and luck can change quickly. After a good Canadian Grand Prix, we experienced some disappointing races. We are working hard to improve the car and we will have a lot of new components in Germany. »

« For the entire field, trying to understand the tires to use them well is quite difficult. We remain focused on eliminating errors, improving the performance of the car, and seeing if we can get better use of the Pirellis. »
