Bottas expects even more confidence in his Mercedes W08

Twice this Friday, Valtteri Bottas beat his teammate by a breath at Mercedes Lewis Hamilton. 78 thousandths then 47 thousandths separated the duo from the star brand, each time to the Finn's advantage, even if the Briton could undoubtedly have improved in FP2, without a small error.

Despite his two good performances, the winner of the last Austrian Grand Prix believes he is not completely confident with his car on the fast and demanding British route. “We started the weekend very well, comments Bottas.

In the first session we weren't too far from optimal balance, so it was a positive start. There is still work to be done to make the car more manageable and to be able to have more confidence in high-speed corners. We just have to work normally, try to make improvements for tomorrow. »

Physicality put to the test

With the new 2017 single-seaters, significantly more aerodynamically efficient and with the new Pirelli tires, the Silverstone track record was beaten by Valtteri Bottas this Friday. The Finn admits to enjoying this challenge.

“I’m impressed by the new cars on this track with its high-speed corners: it’s so much faster than before. I’m really enjoying it and I had a great time, so I’m looking forward to tomorrow. You feel more G in the turns and there is a greater effect on your body. This is a real difference from last year. But luckily, I'm well prepared for that. »
