Valtteri Bottas almost won pole at the Hungarian GP, failing just 18 thousandths behind Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The Finn could still be relatively satisfied with his performance after having experienced a difficult start to the weekend with an engine alert depriving him of FP1 while the second practice session was disrupted by rain.
“It hasn’t been the easiest weekend so far, recognized the Finn. We missed the entire first session and we drove very little in FP2 so it was very important to find the rhythm this morning. It improved over the laps and I gained confidence in the car without encountering any other problems. »
Valtteri Bottas was still frustrated to miss out on pole by so little, having only been able to convert one pole into victory so far this season.
“It’s always a shame to miss out on pole for such a small delay, but I congratulate Max. They were very strong this weekend. I'm happy with this result given how the race started for me, but I would have been even happier if I had taken pole."he said.
