Bottas winner in Austin but Hamilton champion

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won his 6th title, his 3rd in a row, at the end of the USA GP (Texas). The Briton who only needed an 8th place to be titled was able to fight for victory against his teammate Valtteri Bottas. The pole sitter retained control of the race until opting for a two-stop strategy.

The world champion struggled against the Finn but finally gave in 4 laps from the finish, allowing Valtteri Bottas to achieve his 7th success and the 4th of his season by offering Mercedes its 14th victory of the year.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) completed the podium while his teammate Alexander albon reached the Top 5. The Thai made a good comeback after a collision at the start with Carlos Sainz Jr. (McLaren).

The Ferrari missed their weekend. Charles Leclerc failed at the foot of the podium while his teammate Sebastian Vettel abandoned following a broken suspension. The four-time champion had fallen down the standings on the first lap complaining of severe understeer.

The race offered a great duel between the Renault and McLaren. Daniel Ricciardo (Renault) preceded the McLarens by Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr surrounded by the second RS19 of Nico Hulkenberg.

Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) completed the Top 10 ahead of Sergio Pérez (Racing Point). Lance stroll (Racing Point) finished 13th among the Alfa Romeo by Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi. Romain Grosjean (Haas) ranked 15th ahead of his compatriot Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) who did not reach the finish but who still ranks ahead of George Russell (Williams). The Frenchman suffered contact with Sergio Pérez when he was 9th with three laps remaining.

Kevin Magnussen (Haas) retired after his brakes broke at the end of the race. Robert Kubica (Williams) returned to the garage.
