Boullier: Lotus can aim for 4th place

If the E20 offers performance allowing Romain Grosjean and Kimi Räikkönen to fight at the forefront, Lotus F1 Team is only in fifth place in the Championship, 14 points behind Sauber F1 Team after experiencing several disappointments. Eric Boullier did not hide his disappointment. “Romain only completed a handful of laps in the race and Kimi started two back on the grid. We therefore only have 16 points in the Manufacturers' Championship even though we had the means to do much better in the first two races. I'm a little frustrated that we didn't realize what we should have done. We know we can do better and we intend to prove it in the next races. »

It's not all negative for the Lotus F1 Team director, who is well aware of the potential of the E20. According to the Frenchman, the objective stated at the start of the year of finishing in fourth place in the Championship is achievable, especially Mercedes AMG F1 and Ferrari are in difficulty at the start of the season. “We have a good base to score important points and we are clearly in a good position to try to secure fourth place in the Manufacturers' Championship. The aero package we will bring to China is proof that we leave nothing to chance. We are focused on the development of the E20 while our drivers know their objectives and work in harmony with the team. We can explain most of the negatives as bad luck or things we learned from. We want to score more points with both cars in the top eight. »
