Boullier is banking on the long term with McLaren

McLaren avoided a rout at home by finishing the British Grand Prix with both of his cars in the points, with Jenson Button even finishing just off the podium. If the front positions remain a difficult objective for the British team, Éric Boullier is keen to highlight the tenacity of his team. “The rather honorable results achieved on circuits where we perhaps did not expect to shine say a lot about the strength of our team. We are aware that these results do not truly reflect the performance of the car, but we were able to obtain them thanks to the experience and commitment of the staff. »

Éric Boullier is even optimistic about the next trip made this week to Hockenheim where Jenson Button notably took second place in 2012. But the director of McLaren F1 is aware that a return to grace will not be immediate. “Even though the circuit in Germany is supposed to suit us better than the one in Great Britain, we still need to optimize all sectors to secure maximum points. There are no short-term answers. We continue to develop the MP4-29 hoping that the lessons learned this year will have a positive impact on the development of next season's car. »

McLaren has not been on the podium since the Australian Grand Prix and is in sixth place in the Championship, one point behind Force India.
