Brawn: “I know how the pressure builds at Ferrari when things go wrong”

The gap approaching the abyss between the Team Ferrari and her two rivals Mercedes et Red Bull in Hungary will not help Mattia Binotto's troops approach the summer break calmly.

Especially since the pressure around the Maranello team continues to grow with this unsuccessful series, which has been stretching since the United States 2018 and a victory for Kimi Räikkönen.

At the head of Ferrari's technical management during the Jean Todt era – Michael Schumacher, Ross Brawn, current Motor Sports director of Liberty Media, knows better than anyone that the context surrounding the performances of the Italian single-seaters can weigh on the team.

We had to wait several years before seeing the trio Schumacher – Todt – Brawn return to a position to win against the Williams then to McLaren-Mercedes, the headliners of the mid-90s.

« I know very well how the pressure can be increased on Ferrari when things are not going well, Brawn explains in his post-Grand Prix debriefing. Taking a break and recharging won't do any harm.

Then, once racing resumes, the aerodynamic requirements of Spa and Monza could allow Hag and Leclerc to return to the fight, given the aerodynamic efficiency of their cars.

Ferrari absolutely needs a win, not so much for its championship aspirations, but to boost its morale, to prove that it can potentially be a championship contender, an obligation it has always been under. »

A Ferrari victory on Italian soil at Monza, which has not happened since 2010 and Fernando Alonso, would certainly not save the complicated season for the Scuderia, but would allow the fans, and the entire team, to find a little smile again.
