Button in favor of the new system

Jenson Button, driver who won the most Grands Prix in 2009, is very favorable to the new distribution of points in Formula 1. From now on, ten drivers will enter the points, and the drivers who get on the podium will have a clear advantage. Indeed, the winner of a Grand Prix will score 25 points, fifteen more than the fourth place finisher (ten points). The victory bonus is also on the agenda, since the second in a race will score 20 points, five less than the first.

« It is an excellent idea, Button commented to the BBC. It's a good thing to score five more points by winning than by finishing second. This is important because we all like to win races. I won six GPs this season and I only had two points more (than second in each GP). »

However, this system would not have changed anything for Jenson Button, except that he would have had a much greater advantage at mid-season, after his six victories in the first seven Grands Prix.
