Button optimistic after first tests

Jenson Button achieved the best of Friday practice in Melbourne with a time of 1:27:560 signed in the first session, two tenths ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton. If the pilots McLaren were further behind in the afternoon, finishing in 15th and 16th position, the 2009 world champion is satisfied with the performance of his car and did not want to complain about the bad weather conditions limiting running on the Albert Park track.

“We all say it's just free practice sessions, but it's still a good start to the season”, comments the Briton. “We always prefer to be first than last, it's a good day in my opinion. We didn?t ride much because of the conditions on the track. But it was useful because we hadn't yet driven in the wet and we were able to test the different types of tires. This was very useful and we were also able to observe the behavior of the car under these conditions. I'm happy with my car, it handles well. There are still a few points to improve but this day remains good with our limited time on track. Red Bull will remain the hardest team to beat in my opinion, but I found that Mercedes was also very fast. »
