F1 2023 calendar: towards a surprise return of the Chinese GP?

Will the relaxation of health constraints in the Middle Kingdom allow the Chinese Grand Prix to return to the 1 F2023 calendar? Unlikely but not impossible...

Absent from the program since the 2019 edition, which was also the scene of the 1000th GP in history, the Shanghai event was once again missing this season. The cancellation of the 2023 Chinese GP was in fact announced on December 2.

In question, always, the health situation and the administrative measures in force in the country. However, the situation has changed in recent weeks with a gradual lifting of quarantine and isolation measures. To the point that the promoters of the Chinese GP wrote to the Formula 1 to explore the possibility of a return to the 2023 menu. Contacted by AUTOhebdo, F1 declined to comment.

If the timing seems tight, even unrealistic, for this comeback to succeed, we have already seen more incredible in the premier category of motorsport, especially when we know the attractiveness of China for manufacturers involved in F1. The Shanghai round was initially scheduled for the weekend of April 14-16, 2023 in a calendar which then included 24 races.

So the great F1 circus is ready to return to this country which tortures the Uighurs, destroys democracy in Hong Kong and threatens Taiwan?
