This Sunday marks the fourth and final day of this second session of winter testing organized on the Barcelona track in Spain. For his return behind the wheel of the Toro Rosso STR10, Carlos Sainz showed up fastest this morning in 1’25”604. The Iberian pilot is ahead of the Ferrari de Sebastian Vettel, second by more than seven tenths, and the Force India of Nico Hulkenberg, who made his first laps in 2015 with the VJM07 2014 version, and who finished less than a second behind Sainz.
Nico Rosberg, who caused the first interruption of the day, making a mistake at turn 5 with his Mercedes W06 Hybrid, finished 4th ahead of McLaren de Fernando Alonso, who went off the track at the end of turn 3 late in the morning. The double world champion “was fine and conscious.” according to the Twitter account of the Barcelona circuit and was transported as a precaution first to the medical center then to the hospital by helicopter for examinations. Romain Grosjean (Lotus), Daniil Kvyat (Red Bull) and Valtteri Bottas (Williams) complete the ranking. Felipe Nasr did not set a time, Sauber indicating that he was having problems with the C34.
