Carlos Sainz: “I gave everything to get this podium”

Behind the completely crazy battle in the last lap between Max Verstappen et Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz won a new podium, his 4th of the year with Ferrari. Starting in fifth position on the starting grid, the Spaniard had a very interesting race, with a good tire strategy to achieve another great performance. At the end of his first season with the Team, the teammate of Charles Leclerc finished 5th in the championship, ahead Lando Norris his former teammate at McLaren. 

“With everything that happened and this late safety car I'm happy to have had this podium. For my first season at Ferrari I am very happy. I gave everything today (this Sunday) to get this podium. I was very strong today. This Saturday in qualifying, I did a good lap (the Spaniard was 5th on the starting grid Editor's note). I managed to do a good first stint on the hard slopes. There was a lot of tension with my pursuers but I managed to stay in front until the end.”

Carlos Sainz also sent a message of congratulations to the new world champion. He and the Dutchman were teammates at Toro Rosso in 2015.

« I think both deserved it today. They gave us a great show and special congratulations to Max for his title. I'm happy for him because we spent time together at Toro Rosso."
