The start of the season is approaching, and the livery reveals are coming one after the other. It was the turn of Williams to reveal the appearance of the car byAlexander albon et Logan sargeant, After Haas et Red Bull last week.

And like its Austrian competitor, the Grove team had not planned any big surprises for this new livery, which uses the codes of last year... except for a few details.

If the association with Gulf reminded everyone of a powder blue and bright orange livery in the style of the McLaren of the Monaco Grand Prix two years ago, none of that on the 2023 version of Williams. The presence of the sponsor is much more discreet, on the front wing and on the rear of the FW45. The team is retaining the different shades of blue it sported for its 2022 campaign, abandoning the white of previous years.

Compare Williams liveries between 2022 and 2023:

Duracell migrates to the chimney to replace Lavazza, PureStream and Stephens appear on the bodywork and a few details decorate the flanges, but the identity remains the same. However, it is impossible to compare the technical aspect of the two cars, since this was only a presentation of the visual appearance of the FW45. The real single-seater will make its first laps on the Silverstone circuit (United Kingdom) on February 13.

Adorned with this new livery, the Grove team intends to move up in the Manufacturers' rankings. If the Williams impressed with its top speed during the 2022 financial year, it turned out to be too capricious to get involved in the battle between Alpha Tauri and Haas. Only 5 finishes in the points, including one for the first race of Nyck de Vries, and 8 units collected. But a wind of renewal is blowing over Williams. First of all, the return of Gulf Oil in Formula 1 as a sponsor. Also count on the arrival of rookie Logan Sargeant, the first American on the grid of the premier category since 2015, and a thinking head trained at Mercedes in the presence of James Wolves.

With the new dynamic that seems to be driving the last garage of the paddock, the team intends to see more of the liveries of its competitors in its rearview mirror. And she will have the opportunity to get a first idea of her performance from the winter tests in Bahrain, from February 23 to 25.
