If he has often shown the full extent of his talent across different circuits around the world, Charles Leclerc has always been unlucky at home in Monaco. In three appearances in his national Grand Prix, the Monegasque has never reached the finish. Hanging with Brendon Hartley in 2018 when he wore the colors ofAlfa Romeo, retirement in 2019 after a daring overtaking attempt on Nico Hulkenberg, not at the start in 2021 despite the pole position, the current championship leader has not had much success on the Rock.

This Sunday, he took advantage of Historic Monaco Grand Prix to drive there with an old Ferrari, the 312 B3 used by Niki Lauda in 1974 a few weeks after testing Gilles Villeneuve's 312 T4 at Fiorano. The opportunity for him to offer a little show to the spectators present on site. But once again, Charles Leclerc did not escape the “Monegasque curse”.

After taking his first steps under the wise advice of the mechanics, Charles Leclerc put on his suit for his demonstration. The start of his turn went well, the end a little less well. The local in fact badly negotiated his arrival at Rascasse and lost the rear of the Italian who finished her race against the barrier extending her bad series in the streets of the Principality. Greeted by Jacky Ickx when he got out of the car, the Monegasque couldn't believe it. “ No but I lost the brakes. I braked, the pedal was hard and it went to the floor, he explained to the Belgian who knew what had happened to the Ferrari driver. I was lucky to get it at that time, because I think if it happened in any other place it wouldn't have been pretty. »

« When you thought you had already experienced the bad luck of the world in Monaco and you lose the brakes at Rascasse with one of the most emblematic Ferraris in history…” he subsequently wrote on Twitter, preferring to laugh about it after his new misadventure in his land. Next May 29 during the Monaco Grand Prix F1 will try to put an end to this negative spiral to finally see the arrival of its national meeting.
