Chase Carey wants “the championship to remain open in Abu Dhabi”

In an interview with the German newspaper Car picture, Chase carey looks back at the start of the season after his arrival with Liberty Media and is satisfied with the battles on the track and the show.

« We had some good races, the competition is fiercer than last year, confides the American. We want to improve that. It's good to see a third team on the top step of the podium and I hope we see this regularly in the future.

“Apart from the incident Hag/Hamilton in Baku it was a very good race. There F1 showed a lot of action and that's what viewers want to see: unpredictability, on-track action and controversy. »

For the first time since 2013, four drivers from three different teams won at mid-season. This opening to the championship between two drivers from different teams delighted Carey who wanted to see the duel continue until the last race of the season.

« I hope the championship remains open in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, many races have more action with new faces like Lance stroll on the podium in Baku. He gets people talking about him and the sport because an outsider suddenly succeeds. »

At mid-season, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton are separated by 14 points, 8 more than between Nico Rosberg and the Briton at the same period in 2016.
