Christian Horner is the king of tongue-in-cheek. This is not new, but the main training team Red Bull Racing, leader of the Manufacturers' Championship after the first seven rounds of the 2022 season Formula 1, made a new media release from the Bloomberg website.

Asked about the potential to observe an internal duel between the recent winner of the Monaco Grand Prix Sergio Pérez and the current leader of the Drivers' championship, Max Verstappen, Christian Horner has found a clever formula.

" Ultimately, (both pilots) are team players. They are part of a stable. It's not Sergio Pérez Racing or Max Verstappen Racing, it's Red Bull Racing. They work for the team, they have a responsibility. They are driving a car designed by around 800 employees here and produced for them. They are an important link in the chain, but it is vital that they are aware that the team's ambition is greater than theirs. »

And to conclude: “It doesn’t matter which of them is world champion. Whether it's Checo or Max, they're both Red Bull drivers. » A particularly daring statement given the crucial importance that Max Verstappen has had on the marketing level for the energy drink brand since he was hatched by Red Bull in 2014.

Eight years later, the Dutchman is an F1 superstar, whose fame is starting to go beyond the simple framework of insiders, unlike his Mexican colleague, even if he has resigned until 2024 with the Red Bull training.
