CVC: Horner “would do” as head of F1

If Bernie Ecclestone was exonerated last week by the High Court in London in the case of the sale of rights to the F1 at CVC in 2006, the discipline's financier is still far from out of the woods. British justice has in fact established that bribes had indeed been paid to banker Gerhard Gribkowsky. However, the director of the FOM must appear before the Munich Court where he risks a sentence of several years of imprisonment if he is found guilty. If CVC still shows its support for Bernie Ecclestone, the investment fund has already taken its measures since Mr E has already already resigned from the board of directors.

Despite Christian Horner's multiple denials, the Team Principal of Red Bull appears at the top of the list of potential successors to Bernie Ecclestone. “There is no doubt that Christian fits the bill”, admitted in The Times a member of Delta Topco, a company owned by CVC. “Bernie is unique and no one is capable of doing what he did. It's that simple. We need someone with F1 experience, someone who can do business with commercial contracts and TV channels. Having Bernie groom Christian would be a solution for most directors. »

However, part of the paddock could disapprove of this replacement. Among the refractories, Luca di Montezemolo is in place since he is also part of the management committee of Delta Topco in addition to his position as President of Ferrari.
