Daniel Ricciardo had an engine problem in Hungary

Daniel Ricciardo won the last Hungarian Grand Prix in very good fashion, making a sensational comeback in the final laps, notably overtaking Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) then leader with three laps to go. The Australian, however, encountered a problem with his turbo/hybrid V6 Renault during the race. “We had a little problem during the race. We lost a bit of power, around thirty horses all the same. It was due to a sensor which gave bad information. By the time we analyzed, understood and implemented all of this, it took a good turn to do what was needed and then it started again without any problem. » explains Rémi Taffin, head of Renault Sport track activities F1.

The Frenchman also wanted to highlight the progress of the engine manufacturer. “I still want to emphasize something about overtaking because until now we said that it was always difficult to overtake on the straights. It was in Budapest there was still a certain straight line. I still agree that the Mercedes we overtake them in the bends, but the Ferraris we overtake them on the straights! So there is still a little progress. I think we are starting to see the end. »
