Daniel Ricciardo wins a crazy Hungarian Grand Prix!

The rain that fell on the Hungaroring a few minutes before the start completely disrupted the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix. At the head of a peloton that started on intermediate tires, Nico Rosberg managed to maintain the benefit of his pole position at the start ahead of the Williams de Valtteri Bottas who had managed to pass the Red Bull de Sebastian Vettel at the first corner, the course of events will be unfavorable for the championship leader. For his part, Lewis Hamilton made a mistake from the start at turn 2, but was able to get back on the track after a spin following too cold brakes on the W05.

It was Marcus Ericsson's exit after turn 3 that completely reversed the situation. The unhurt Caterham driver causes the safety car to come out. If Massa, Ricciardo or Vergne managed to throw himself into the pit lane, it was not the same for the four leaders, Rosberg, Bottas, Vettel and Alonso who will lose big at the start of the race. After the waltz of tire changes (to switch to slick tires, the track drying out), it was Ricciardo who dominated ahead of Button who did not stop. Except that when the safety car is about to enter, Romain Grosjean makes a mistake in the same place as Ericsson, extending the neutralization of the race. At the restart, Ricciardo missed the first braking and left Button in the lead. Good pick for Vergne who will even come second and contain the Mercedes from Rosberg and Hamilton already back on his teammate's heels.

And the adventures are not over, since Sergio Pérez will cause the second Safety-Car entry, after having smashed his Force India against the pit wall at the exit of the last corner. After this new interruption, it is Fernando Alonso who takes Vergne and the two Mercedes. The Frenchman will finally fall back into the hierarchy, but in the lead Alonso, after another tire change, retains control of the race. The Spaniard will try the crazy gamble of going to the end when Hamilton, Ricciardo and Rosberg observed another stop. The bet of Ferrari will not pay off, since after a crazy comeback, Daniel Ricciardo passes Hamilton then Alonso three laps from the goal to head towards his second career success. The double Iberian world champion will resist the return of Hamilton, forced to defend his place against Rosberg, offensive in the last loops. Massa (Williams) took 5th place ahead of Räikkönen (Ferrari), also the author of a superb comeback. Vettel (Red Bull), who made a mistake just like Pérez, but with a happier outcome, finished 7th ahead of Bottas (Williams). Vergne (Toro Rosso) takes the points for 9th place ahead of Jenson Button (McLaren) whose first bet to stay on the track in intermediates did not work out.

La F1 is beginning its three-week summer break and will be back on the weekend of August 24 in Belgium at Spa-Francorchamps.
