From reliability to performance for Honda

And if the MP4-30s of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button showed themselves more to their advantage at the end of the season? Yasuhisa Arai, Head of Motorsport at Honda, which motorizes the stable McLaren, in fact indicated that the Japanese intended to now focus on the performance of their turbo/hybrid V6.

“Now I think the reliability issues are behind us, indicates Nippon, cited by Sky Sports. This means that we can now focus our attention on the pursuit of performance. Our plan is to use some of our seven development tokens still available, to benefit from a more advanced engine at the end of the summer break.

We probably won't be able to apply all the new features in time for the race in Spa (Belgium, August 23), and some will arrive during the following Grands Prix. » Arai also indicates the main areas of work for its engineers.

“The most important area for us is concentrated around combustion. Current regulations require high efficiency at this level, so we want to change the characteristics with the design of the chamber and the intake and exhaust system. »

McLaren-Honda achieved its best cumulative result of the season at the last Grand Prix in Hungary, with 5th place for Fernando Alonso and 9th for Jenson Button. Will the Spa event be the turning point in the championship for Woking?
