Before the end of year holidays, the British Racing Drivers' Club, owner of the Silverstone track, indicated to its members in a letter, explore all options regarding the future of the British Grand Prix. Even going so far as to mention the activation of a potential contract termination clause with the F1, at the end of 2019, if financial conditions do not change.

Derek Warwick, head of the BRDC, however, clarified on the sidelines of the Autosport International Show that discussions were underway, in particular with the government and the new governing bodies of the premier discipline of motorsport.

“It remains uncommon, but we are talking to the government to see if there is help, explains Warwick, quoted by Sky Sports. I'm not really sure of the outcome.

We're talking to Liberty Media and even Bernie (Ecclestone) is calling us now and saying, 'we're going to have a meeting and talk about it.' We are feeling very positive at the moment and there are a lot of good things happening at Silverstone. »

Damon Hill also spoke out, encouraging the government to listen to requests for the Silverstone route, highlighting the complex as a “very good showcase for our banner and to show that we shine in this area. »
