Conclusive tests for Ferrari in Barcelona

After two last seasons in the shadow of Mercedes et Red Bull, Ferrari seems to be regaining color in view of the 2022 campaign. Still driven by Charles Leclerc et Carlos Sainz, Team was the team in vogue during the first winter tests this week at Barcelona where they did a very good job.

Very reliable while certain teams like Red Bull, Alpine or even Aston Martin encountered technical problems with their car, the F1-75 from Ferrari allowed Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to complete no less than 439 laps (2.052 kilometers), the highest total in the paddock this week.

« This series of tests was very solid, recognizes Laurent Mékiès, sporting director of the Reds. We completed the majority of our program which was based on three key elements: firstly, having a first reading on reliability, hence the importance given to the number of laps completed; second, establish several parameters for our car, from aerodynamic performance to tire performance to car dynamics.

Last but not least, it was important to allow our drivers to perform a lot of everything to familiarize themselves with what is a completely new car. This requires a different driving style and a different approach depending on the conditions."

At the time of packing up and heading to Bahrain for the second week of pre-season testing (March 10 to 12), smiles seem to have returned to the ranks of Ferrari.
