Here we are. While F1 had always loudly proclaimed its refusal to introduce inverted grids to spice up the show – but who was fooled by its intentions? -, Christian Horner has just opened Pandora's Box in Austin (United States).
After another Sprint where we were really bored, the main team of the team Red Bull Racing suggested that it was necessary more uncertainty » to avoid the procession seen on Saturday on the Circuit of the Americas: victory elbow to the door of Max Verstappen with almost 10'' ahead of Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes).
« I think there are adjustments to be made to evolve the Sprint format, Horner said Saturday evening, in comments reported by Race fans.
It's about whether you reverse the top 10 on the grid or something, but (if that is the case), enough points need to be awarded to make it worth pushing hard. »
We could also completely get rid of a concept which has too rarely convinced since its introduction in 2021.
The organizers of the United States Grand Prix have also recognized that the addition of the Sprint to their program did not lead to an increase in attendance on Saturday, to their great surprise. Perhaps America has more purists than one might imagine.
Horner obviously doesn't care and wants to see F1 continue to play small chemists.
« We are in a process where we must be open to change and evolution, added the boss of Milton Keynes (United Kingdom). I think the concept is good, but I think the execution can be improved to make it more engaging for the viewer.
I don't know if you found this race entertaining (no Christian, not at all… Editor’s note), but I think we need to think about offering more points or reversing the top 10. »
The bomb has been dropped, the red line crossed. Is this really a surprise? Of course not.

With a fine of 10 million dollars for not abusing the limits of the track! Wow, wow! We are no longer close to stupidity in F1.

I already didn't watch the Sprint race... and an inverted grid won't encourage me to follow the Sprint format any more! Why no unmanned radio-controlled F1 cars while they're at it?
