Di Grassi in the deep end

After Timo Glock, Virgin Racing should have completed its crew with the reinforcement of Lucas di Grassi. The Brazilian, reserve driver at Renault, announced on his Twitter account that he would join the F1 next season. “ For anyone wondering, I will be in F1 in 2010, revealed the driver. Details will be announced next week. »

If the Renault track is possible, the most likely is the one leading to Virgin Racing, a team born from the partnership linking Virgin to the Manor team. Lucas di Grassi, announced to be close to the Sheffield team for many weeks, won the prestigious Grand Prix with Manor F3 from Macau in 2005.

Timo Glock, made official last month, should therefore team up with young Lucas di Grassi, who took part in the Jerez F1 tests last week with Renault. The Brazilian finished in third place in the 2009 GP2 Series season, behind the untouchable Nico Hulkenberg and the Russian Vitaly Petrov, solidly supported by his sponsors and who could also find a seat in F1.

This Friday, Virgin announced its decision to officially launch the team's 2010 season next Tuesday in London. Richard Branson, emblematic boss of Virgin, could (should) present his duo of pilots for the next season.
