FP1: Webber ahead of McLaren at Interlagos

McLaren has shown a very good pace in free practice for several weekends, but the reference time this time goes to Mark Webber (Red Bull), who achieved a time of 1:13:811 on the Sao Paulo circuit. The Australian is just 14 thousandths ahead of Jenson Button (McLaren) while Lewis Hamilton ends at 0??150. Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) is 4th in the session, 0??214 behind his teammate ahead of the drivers Ferrari. Felipe Massa is 5th at 0??696, and Alonso could not do better than the 6th time (+ 0??730), victim of a clutch problem a few minutes from the end of the session. Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) is 7th (+1??351) ahead of the residents of the Force India team Nico Hulkenberg (+1??367) and Paul di Resta (+1??430). Nico Rosberg (+1??510) completes the top 10.

Although forced to abandon his R31 following a gearbox problem in the middle of the session, Romain Grosjean (Lotus-Renault GP) was once again the author of a great performance. The Frenchman signs the 12th fastest time (+1??736) behind Jaime Alguersuari (Toro Rosso) and is almost 2 tenths ahead of his teammate Bruno Senna, who only achieves the 14th fastest time behind Rubens Barrichello (+ 1??852). His compatriot Jean-Eric Vergne (Toro Rosso) was not spared from the problems either, his SREC causing him to lose several tens of minutes at the start of the session. The Formula Renault 3.5 Series vice-champion finished in 18th place (+2??241).

The 2nd free practice session for the Brazilian GP will take place from 17 p.m.
