FP2 – Undivided domination of Mercedes in Italy

After Valtteri Bottas earlier in the day, it's Lewis Hamilton who climbed to the top of the timesheet during free practice 2 at Monza this Friday.

Faster than everyone, the six-time world champion almost went under the 1’20 mark with a time of 1’20”192. First this morning, his teammate was more than two tenths behind.

Third throughout the session, Pierre Gasly finally had to settle for fourth position with a time of 1’21”121. The Norman was beaten in the final minutes of EL2 by Lando Norris and McLaren.

Back this morning, Max Verstappen remained so once again on this sunny afternoon near Monza. The Dutchman only set the fifth fastest time of the session, more than a second behind Lewis Hamilton.

On the local side, another complicated session for the Team Ferrari. If he did better than during EL1 (9th against 11th), Charles Leclerc did not hesitate to point out the difficulty in mastering the SF1000 on the Italian track. Sebastian Vettel also experienced an eventful second part of the day. Between blockages and spins, the German suffered a lot and finished these free practices in 12th place.

The pilots Renault were rather discreet in EL2. Ninth earlier today, Daniel Ricciardo dropped to 15th position. Esteban Ocon for his part did a little better. He gained one place, going from 12th to 11th in the session standings.

Third and last French representative, Romain Grosjean (Haas) finished far behind. The Habs ranked 18th just ahead of the Williams de Nicholas latifi and George Russell.
