EL2 – Hamilton back at the front, Alpine wakes up

Fifth this morning, the seven-time world champion dominated the afternoon session. Alpine for its part saw its two drivers place in the Top 10.

EL2 – Hamilton back at the front, Alpine wakes up

In a session where long relays were one of the main areas of work, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) was the fastest on the track with a lap of 1’19”837.

The Englishman set this time at the start of the session before completing the laps and collecting data for the race on Sunday. Already second behind a Mercedes, in this case that of Valtteri Bottas, Earlier in the day, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) repeated his performance in the afternoon. He finished just over a tenth behind Lewis Hamilton.

Leader of EL1, Valtteri Bottas this time was content with 3rd place, less than 4 tenths behind his teammate.

At Ferrari, optimism is still relevant since the two representatives of the Team ranked in the Top 10 with Carlos Sainz 4th and Charles Leclerc 7e.

Back in the morning, Alpine had a very different second session. Far in the standings in EL1, Fernando Alonso signed a nice 5th time just ahead of his teammate Esteban Ocon. Both men finished less than 4 tenths behind the leader.

Pierre Gasly (Alpga Tauri) experienced the opposite of the pilots Alpine this afternoon. Sixth on the EL1 timesheet, the Normand fell back in the standings, finishing beyond the Top 10 (11th) but ahead of his teammate Yuki tsunoda (14e).

Nikita mazepin (Haas) brings up the rear once again. The Russian ranks 20th behind Nicholas latifi (Williams) and Mick Schumacher (Haas) 2“8 from the head.
