FP2: Räikkönen takes control

The best performance of the second free practice session in Montreal was due to Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) in 1'12''935, more than two tenths faster than Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) in second place. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) was 0''265 behind his teammate and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) was 4e 0”375 behind his compatriot.

Complicated session for Red Bull since Max Verstappen, 5e best time, had to stop on the track twenty minutes from the checkered flag and Daniel Ricciardo, 15e, had to content himself with only a few laps before returning to the pits, victim of a mechanical problem.

Felipe Massa (Williams) was 6e and the first more than a second behind Räikkönen while Fernando Alonso (McLaren), signed on 7e time despite a first part of the session nailed to the garage. Esteban Ocon (Force India) placed 8e ahead of Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) and Sergio Perez (Force India) for the top 10.

Romain Grosjean (Haas), in difficulty with his car, was at the gates of the top 10 in front Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), Carlos Sainz Jr (Toro Rosso) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas) in 14e instead.

Jolyon Palmer (Renault) placed 16e before Lance stroll (Williams) and Marcus Ericsson (Sauber). Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) had to shorten his session and only completed the 19the time with soft tires. Pascal Wehrlein (Sauber) brought up the rear. The session was marked by the numerous spins made by all the drivers.
