EL2: Red Bull drives home the point and flies away against the opponents

The day was ideal for Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull). A few hours after setting the best time in Free Practice 1 in Monaco, the Australian confirmed his ease during the second session on Thursday, still contested in ideal weather conditions.

The winner of the last Chinese Grand Prix even registered a brand new lap record on the urban track in 1'11''841. The previous record was set in 1'12''178, directed by Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) in qualifying in 2017.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) confirms the domination of the Anglo-Austrian team with a second best time, less than two tenths behind. The rest of the peloton is thrown back by more than half a second, a very significant gap.

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) follows with the third best performance. The German beats his rival for the title Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes). Once again, the French team Renault is the “best of the others” thanks to the sixth beat of Nico Hulkenberg (+1''2).

The French are all outside the top 10: Esteban Ocon (Force India) is 13th, a few thousandths behind his teammate Sergio Pérez, Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) is 14th and Romain Grosjean (Haas) is 18th.

The session was interrupted by the red flag after half an hour to repair a loose manhole cover upstream of the Mirabeau bend.

You will now have to wait until Saturday morning to attend the third practice session.
