Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) achieved the best time in practice for the Belgian Grand Prix by completing a lap of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in 1'47''974, a few hundredths better than the previous day's benchmark established by Max Verstappen (Red Bull).
The Dutchman had less success this morning since he encountered mechanical problems before even being able to set any time.
Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) is the closest to the 2007 world champion with two tenths behind. The Australian preceded Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) which was slowed down by Kevin Magnussen (Renault) during a flying lap.
Valtteri Bottas (Williams) ranked half a second behind the best time, preceding Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) who has changed Power Unit again and is focusing on race preparation.
Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) finished seventh between Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) and Felipe Massa (Williams) who is ahead of Sergio Pérez (Force India). Romain Grosjean (Haas) completed the top ten with more than three tenths ahead of his teammate Esteban Gutiérrez who forced Pascal Wehrlein (Manor) to go onto the grass when the German was on a flying lap. The commissioners are studying the incident.
Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso) and Marcus Ericsson (Sauber) also encountered mechanical problems. The Spaniard finished 17th behind his teammate Daniil Kvyat while the Swede was only able to cover five loops of the Belgian track.
