In Quarantine with AUTOhebdo – The Alain Prost festival in Mexico in 1990

Arriving at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City (then in its most beautiful version with a complete Peraltada) in June 1990, Alain Prost and Team Ferrari are not in the best position.

Despite a victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix during the second round of the season, it is indeed Ayrton Senna and McLaren who set the pace at the top of the championship. The Brazilian has just won the last two races in Monaco and Canada, and nothing seems able to prevent his progress.

Especially since Prost does not find the right formula with his Ferrari 641. The Frenchman, who arrived at the start of the year in Maranello, sets the 13th time on the grid, but is counting on the race to catch up.

The following ? A demonstration from the reigning world champion, a retirement for Senna, an incredible overtake by Nigel Mansell on Gerhard Berger at the end of the race to give Ferrari a double. Prost will have two more successes in France and England to get back into the fight for the title.
