Another bad day for Alonso in Abu Dhabi

If the departure of Fernando Alonso was confirmed by the Team Ferrari, the two-time world champion would certainly like to end his Prancing Horse career on a high note at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. However, the weekend got off to a bad start for the Spaniard who was unable to participate in the 2nd practice session due to an electrical problem that occurred on his F14T during his installation lap. The Asturian is not spoiled since he had already suffered a breakdown during testing for the Brazilian GP in Sao Paulo (albeit expected due to the age of the Power Unit).

“It's a real shame because it made us miss the practice session which was our only opportunity to really work on the rest of the weekend (the 2nd practice session being held in the evening like the race), declared Fernando Alonso who should be announced at McLaren not until next month. “The car simply stopped without warning. The repairs took the mechanics too long for me to return to the track despite the rapid intervention of the marshals who did their best to bring the car at the stands. »

This setback is all the more regrettable as Fernando Alonso performed well in the first session by being closest to the Mercedes. “We were able to complete our morning program and the car was responding as expected, but the temperatures were much higher than they will be in qualifying and the race, and our data is not very relevant. The first round of Q1 will already begin in the evening. We are clearly not well prepared but we will do our best as usual. »
