Eric Boullier very disappointed by the regulations

Following the FIA's ban on the use of ground clearance control, many questions concern the performance of the E20 developed by Lotus F1 team. enstone was the first team to develop this system this year and was quickly followed by other teams, including Team Ferrari. However, other teams complained to the FIA, pointing out that this idea affected the aerodynamics of the car. car during braking phases, the nose of the car remaining straight. The FIA, which initially seemed to approve of this system, ultimately decided to ban it.

Enstone therefore had to review its copy a few weeks before the first tests in Jerez. For Eric Boullier, the disappointment is great. “I have to say it’s really disappointing.”, he admitted on Autosport. “We have spent a lot of time and energy, as well as money, to form a group to work on this innovative system. We are not stupid, we went to the FIA every step of the way and the FIA gave their approval. Then, this system was formally banned as soon as we started using it. We have to respect the rules but it is frustrating. »
