After three months of waiting, the Formula 1 is back ! The 10 teams and their 20 drivers will meet in Bahrain on February 23 for pre-season tests.
If the technical revolution of 2022 had required a first salvo of tests in Barcelona before going to the Middle East, preparation for the 2023 campaign is much more reduced. Three days, or one and a half days per protagonist, the first and only ranges before the longest season in the history of the premier category (23 Grands Prix).
The drivers' only taste of their new cars were the shakedowns organized at times in Barcelona, Silverstone, Fiorano and Misano. So these sessions will be crucial for the different teams in the paddock. The morning session will last 4 hours (8 a.m. – 12 p.m. French time), and the afternoon session will take place from 13 p.m. to 17:30 p.m. (French time).
To optimize these tests, the teams have adopted different strategies. Some have their two drivers racing over the three days alternating in the manner of Haas ou Alpha Tauri, when others reserve a full day for everyone, like Williams ou Red Bull.
Aston Martin, for its part, will roll its reservist Felipe Drugovich to replace Lance stroll. The Canadian will be withdrawn following a “minor” cycling accident. His participation in the season-opening Grand Prix has not yet been confirmed.
