Silverstone testing: Kvyat in the lead at midday

Daniil Kvyat leads the timesheet at midday with a time of 1’35”544 at the wheel of the Toro Rosso STR9 (three tenths more than Felipe Massa's time taken the day before). But this second day of testing was not idyllic for the Faenza team since the Russian found himself arrested shortly after 13 p.m. (French time). Kevin Magnussen is the closest but still more than a second behind. Max Chilton follows in third position having been the most diligent with 39 laps covered. The Briton is ahead of his teammate Jules Bianchi who today replaces Kimi Räikkönen at Ferrari. The Frenchman climbed to third place at the start of the afternoon.

Charles Pic was the first to test Pirelli's 18-inch wheels on the Lotus with which he completed 14 laps, setting the ninth and final time (gallery). Lewis Hamilton and Julian Leal did not achieve a time this morning. The pilot Mercedes found himself stopped early on the track after spinning at Stowe, while the Caterham test driver, who must share his running time with Rio Haryanto, encountered a problem on the MGU-H of the CT05.
