Esteban Ocon: “I am no longer a beginner”

A year after its debut in Formula 1 with Manor, Esteban Ocon is impatient to return to his Force India after a summer break marked by rest for the young driver.

« I had a great holiday in the south of Spain, he comments. My batteries are full and I can't wait to get back in the car. I've been a Formula 1 driver for a year now and everything has happened very quickly. I'm no longer a beginner then! »

He returns to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit where he made his debut in 2016 and where he has never won before despite two second places in F3 and two in GP3 after a penalty which robbed him of his victory.

“Spa is where I made my debut last year. It's a great track but it's not one of my favorites. There are some special turns, especially in the second sector which has a good pace. It's a circuit where you have to be one with the car because you have to give it your all in the fast corners.

“Spa is a good track for racing because it is easier to overtake than on other circuits. And the typical local weather brings unpredictability. I wouldn't mind if it rained, if that would give us more chances. »

Esteban Ocon finished his first Belgian Grand Prix in 16th placee place last season.
