F1: other teams on the track?

The 2010 lineup Formula 1 took several weeks to take shape. The ten current teams had agreed to continue the adventure in 2010, with three new teams being added to this list in order to reach the maximum of thirteen teams desired by the FIA. But, with the announced withdrawal of BMW at the end of the season, a place remains vacant for a team wishing to join the elite single-seater discipline.

In May, several teams applied to join Formula 1. Campos Meta, US F1 (USG PE) and Manor Motorsport won the bid. But others were then left behind, without really understanding why: iSport, Euskadi, Rml, Litespeed, Formtech, WirthResearch, Lola and Prodrive. From then on, one of these teams could hope to join Formula 1 in 2010. Unless the Swiss team, future ex-BMW, finds itself in the same situation as Brawn GP, which was able to continue in 2009 despite the withdrawal of Honda at the end of last season.

Among the new arrivals in F1, as AUTOhebdo tells you in its columns this week, Manor Motorsport is in a most precarious situation. It is therefore possible that things will evolve on this side as well. Three months before the end of the season, the 2010 field is still far from having found its definitive face. Hoping that other manufacturers don't throw in the towel by the start of the next season...
